Holy, Holy, Holy - Kadosh
As the OT prophet Isaiah envisioned Heaven, the heavenly choirs of cherubim, archangels and angels singing Holy, Holy, Holy to God. “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” (Isaiah 6:3). This hymn, known as the Kadosh by the Hebrews, is used in the Orthodox church Liturgy as the Trisagion: Holy God! Holy Mighty! Holy Immortal! Have mercy on me.
In this image, Christ sits at the center of Heaven and the Universe, as the Pantocrator. He is surrounded by the archangels, the cherubim. and all the heavenly hosts, symbolized by the eyes and wings. From a distance, it looks like a blooming rose also. If you notice, the archangels face both ways, Christ and outward. Similarly, the domes of Orthodox churches depict Christ the Pantocrator with the Word of God in his hands. We believe that during Liturgy and other services, both heavenly and earthly church joins together in unison.
