Christ Emanuel icon

Since the birth of my daughter, I have been fascinated with Christ's love toward the little children. His words provided parental guidance in her upbringing: "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 19:14) Christ, represented as a child, provides spiritual guidance for us: "Truly, I say unto you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 18:3) This is the goal of our spiritual journey through life, to become like Him and to be united in Him. This piece is dedicated to my daughter, depicting Christ as a young boy about the age of my daughter at that time.
