The Mustard Seed Tree
The Parable of the Mustard Seed is one of the shorter parables of Jesus ( Matt. 13:31–32), Mark 4:30–32, and Luke 13:18–19. The mustard seed might be one of the smallest in size but when it grows it overwhelms in size and territory. Such is the Kingdom of God - it starts from a small humble beginning, but grows within the soul of the child of God. On the other hand, Jesus compared our faith with the mustard tree. "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’ and it will move; Nothing will be impossible for you” Matt. 17:1-20. This piece reminds us of these two very important things. First, this beautiful tree and the birds it attracts is like the Kingdom of God - it gives us hope that God has prepared for us a beautiful dwelling in His Kingdom, and second, that we need to develop trust-faith in God even as small in size as the mustard seed.
