Four Gospels

from $50.00

This is my artistic interpretation of an altar Four Gospels book with icons based on a manuscript Four Gospels from the second half of the 16th century, and a combination of manuscript decorative patterns based on a manuscript Four Gospels from the second half of the 16th century. Traditionally, the Four Gospels book remains on the altar of Orthodox churches, and each Sunday the priest reads a passage and then delivers his sermon upon the theme of the passage. Scribes and illuminators inscribed the sacred text of the Gospels and decorated it, considering their job to be building the House of the Word of God - the most treasured book.
